| THE STYLE OF KARATE
Okinawan Shorin-Ryu is the style of Karate being taught at the Murray's Okinawan Karate studios. Shorin-Ryu is a combative style of Karate that emphasizes natural body movement and flows. This style of Karate is so adaptable that it can handle the techniques of the boxer and the street fighter, and can be utilized for competition in tournaments.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
The program teaches the skills necessary to develop coordination, balance, motor skills, attitude, good sportsmanship, competitiveness, self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-defense within the student.
TEACHING METHODS
The primary method of instruction is via demonstration and utilization of movements shown by the instructor. Training aids such as kicking shields and striking pads/bags are used to develop focus, control, speed, and power of the technique demonstrated.
CLASS SIZE All Karate classes are limited to 30 students. This gives a good student-to-teacher ratio and permits more time to be dedicated to each individual student.
ENROLLMENT
Children 7 years and up and adults may enroll in classes throughout the calendar year. All students begin with the basic fundamentals of Karate and continue without interruption during the course of enrollment. |
